LUTESTRING
A SUITE OF FOLK TUNES NAMED AFTER BRITISH MOTHS

A new suite of folk tunes written and recorded by Norfolk musicians, Adam Clark (Guitar & Banjo) and Nic Zuppardi (Mandolin, Tenor Guitar & Banjo), inspired by the ‘wonderfully harmonious and intriguing’ (Bugs Brittanica) world of British moth names.
Nine moths have lent their names to original instrumentals recorded in the spring and released in September 2024, accompanied by a tune book featuring original linocuts by Nic.

Lutestring Tune Writing Workshop
Bergh Apton Arts
Saturday 21 June 10:00 - 12:00

On June 21st Adam and Nic will lead a 2 hour workshop for musicians of all levels who play any melodic instrument, focused on writing tunes inspired by nature. We will explore the process of finding inspiration, deciding on a musical palette, generating ideas and refining them into completed tunes. Using one of the tunes from Lutestring, we will explain our use of moth names as a catalyst for writing tunes, and how we then use these tunes as a basis for improvisation. Participants will have the opportunity to start the process of writing their own tunes.

This workshop is suitable for listening and playing participants, we will be playing by ear and participants are encouraged to have some familiarity with their instruments.
Maximum attendance 20, age 15+
